Mamata Banerjee wins Bhowanipur by-election
As West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee won the Bhowanipur by-election with a stunningly big margin, voters reduced Left to political insignificance.
What was more important about her victory notwithstanding Ms. Mamata Banerjee’s new assembly constituency having polled less number of votes last Sunday that Mamta Banerjee could emerge with such a massive margin of 54,213 over her CPI(M) rival Jadavpur University professor Nandini Mukherjee. While none doubted Ms. Mamata Banerjee’s victory, the size of the margin was a suspect.
